July Wild Camp in the Lakes

We a good weather forcast we headed up to Shap in the lakes to do a one night wild camp.
After parking our car in Shap which is a lot easy then the main lakes towns. We set off west heading for Mosedale.
We had planed but with wild camping you can choose as you go along. With in a mile of Shap we went though the small hamlet of Keld which had a small church run by NT.
From there we head along the bridle path towards Seat Robert 515m and High Wether Howe at 531m. The going was rough under foot as we went up hill though long grass and boggy ground. But once on top it was better under foot. The view we had was outstanding you could see for miles. To the east you could see Cross Fell with the White golf balls. Then to the west you could start seeing part of the Kentmere fells.

After High Wether Howe we headed down hill to Moosedale beck, where we was looking for a point to cross and head to Mosedale Cottages. The area we were looking to start camping, but as we went along the beck we came across a lovely flat area. The time was about 4.30pm so a bit early but it was a nice spot and it would meant a longer day on Sunday. After looking at the map we stopped there.
Tent went up and as we was doing that a Vulcan Bomber went over. Then it came back few nmore times as we was on thier turning circle for the airshow. No sound as it came towards us.
Kettle went on and we just relaxed in the sun. Evening meal was Chicken Tika folled by muufin and custard. Washed down with red wine.

Next day we went over to Gatescarth Passd and up onto Hartwers Fell 778m. Views were great.
Then onto Kentmere Pike 730m.
From here the plan was to head down to Haweswater and then back up onto Mardale Common.
But we saw people going up onto Artie Crag 713m. So we followed them and found a good path that went back to Shap without us loosing too much hieght.

14.5 miles the day was and we were little knacked at the end. But a quick bag of chipps from Shap chippy some got us going again for the motorway back home.
